This weeks blog is about Seeing red. I have gone out and taken some really interesting and fun pictures for you guys to enjoy, the only challenge was that they had to be all taken by my smartphone. I struggled a little with getting the right angles, but managed to really get into it and try many different ways I could stand or lean in order to get the right focus.
My pictures were not all taken in the same location, many times I found myself looking for red which made it harder for me to feel like I was getting the right pictures, so through out the course of this week I let the red come to me whether it be on campus or over a friends place. I hope you guys enjoy this weeks Seeing red project as much as I did and feel free to leave any comments down below.
Image 1 - Beats Cable
This is a picture I took inside of a building we have on campus called The Union, I took this picture because of the way the cable was positioned at the time, since the rules for this project indicated that I couldn't physically move any object to fit the picture. I had to think of ways to to position myself instead. I chose this angle because of the spiral end on the cable. Usually things are focused the closer you get but in this case I focused the picture towards the farther end the spiral.
Image 2- Red Guitar
I took this photo because I was fascinated by the beautiful apple red texture this guitar had. I positioned myself in a way you would see almost all of it. I wanted to embrace how strong the presence of red was on the certain object. I wish I could have positioned myself just a little lower so that way the picture showed the full guitar itself.
Image 3- Red DJ Booth
I work at a venue/ night club called Teatro Scarpino, down Dickson Street in Fayetteville Arkansas. I took this photo because the of the lights and the way the DJs table is positioned, I didn't want to get to close because then it would ruin the whole idea behind the picture. I also didn't want to leave people guessing. The lights and speakers really help draw the attention to the DJ and his table. This is probably one of my favorite photos I took this weekend.
Image 4- Red Sun Room
This is a photo I took in The Union as well, I chose this photo because of the way the red paint on the side of the walls gleam against the shadows of the sunlight that the windows bring in. I chose this angle because I wanted to show the way the windows are set up all the way up but didn't want to lose focus of the red. I tried to make the red walls one of the first things you see in this photo. I wish I would have taken it at an angle that would be closer to the red paint but the only tool I had to work with was the chair I was sitting on.
Image 5- Mangos Nightclub
I absolutly love this photo, I took this photo while I was visiting one of my favorite nightclubs in Miami Beach. I wanted to make sure the focus of the photo was on the sign, it took multiple attempts to get it to where you couldn't see the crowds of people below. I like the way the colors green and yellow are big enough to see but are not big enough to over power the color of the red title. I think if I had gotten close enough to get just the word Mango's this photo would have been much more appealing to the eye.

I plan on gaining the hands on experience I will need in order to fully be involved in the world of journalism, there is more to the news then a picture or a paragraph. I plan to gain the behind the scenes knowledge on how information is being spread throughout the world. I plan to apply these acquired skills where ever I go in the world of journalism. As a student studying broadcast journalism my main area of interest is reporting, I hope to one day become an entertainment reporter. The world of entertainment is at a constant whirl, in my generation social media is relied upon heavily when one is trying to find the latest trends or news, making it even more important for me to take this course. Multimedia journalism is very hard to define , multimedia journalism is how the public receives the latest news, stories or events happening around them. Multimedia journalists use both writing and oral ways to inform their audience. With our advanced technology multimedia journalism is expressed in various ways. Videos, pictures, blogging, live streaming are all different ways information is being expressed today, making news travel quickly and efficiently. Down below where it says "click here" is a great example of multimedia journalism. When we see pictures of a news story it can't help but grab our attention we WANT to click on it. An article about Obama on the CNN website shows various amount of pictures of him headed towards Washington causing the audience to remember Obamas first years of presidency. The pictures in this news article are a symbol of how time has flown by. By adding pictures to this article the author made it almost nearly impossible for a viewer not to be intrigued. What I learned from the ethics of Journalism is that as a journalist in the world of journalism, one must act accordingly. A good image is to be upheld. We must play fair in journalism when stating facts and provide the public with the news they have a right to know.
